U.S. GIRLS’ JUNIOR SECTIONAL QUALIFYING

FORMAT:

All players will compete in an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round. Qualifiers will advance to the 71st U.S. Girl’s Junior Amateur Championship which will be held at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, WI, July 22 - 27 2019.  The final number of qualifying spots at each site will be available from the Committee on the day of play. 

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. 

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Contestants may plan a practice round at their own expense by contacting the Vista Valley golf shop at (760) 758-5275. Players should identify themselves as a participant in the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur Qualifier to obtain the discounted practice round rate. Green Fees: $99. Cart Fee: Included

 

TEES AND YARDAGES

Play will be from the USGA tee markers.  Hole by hole yardages will be available on the Qualifier Portal.

Course Rating: 76.4 / Slope: 140 / approximately 6,008 yards.  / Par 71

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The Driving Range will be open by 6:15 a.m. on the day of the qualifier.  Range balls will be provided compliments of the Vista Valley CC and will be on the Driving Range. 

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The snack bar will be open from 6:30 a.m. until the conclusion of play.

Cash and major credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play;
  • The "one-ball" rule will be in effect. During the entire round, the golf ball a player plays must be of the same brand and type as detailed by a single entry on the current list of Conforming Golf Balls;

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Golf carts are prohibited during the qualifier.  Pull carts or push carts are permitted and they are available to rent for $20.   Players are permitted to obtain a ride from a rules official when having to go back to play another ball under stroke and distance. 

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). A player may not use a parent, step parent, or guardian as a caddie during sectional qualifying or the championship proper. Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times.

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an USGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here, AND the USGA Championship Administration Department at (908) 234-2300.
